Minutes of the Old Lyme Economic Development Commission of the Meeting of 11/4/15
Meeting commenced at 8 AM in the Old Lyme Town Hall. Present were Bob Jose, John Stratton, Susan Howard, Howard Margules, Joe Camean, Bill O’Meara and Heather Gagnon
We discussed the following topics:
1. Approved and accepted the prior month’s minutes.
2. Real estate news from last month showed 146 units for sale, of those, 12 under contract. In other real estate news, the Dunkin Donuts is open for business on Halls Rd and the fate of A&P Liquor store remains undecided until next year.
3. Discussion arose regarding the economic drivers for OL. What to do to then attract what in order to get people in town as well as keep them here. another idea involved attempting to keep seniors around with the possibility of some trade school educational opportunities offered in the high school. We agreed to come to the January meeting with 5 ideas for discussion for keeping young people in this town.
4. No change in news on the bike/hiking trail development other than new flood maps have been drawn and no engineering firm has been picked by the Railroad for the relocation and rebuilding.
5. No commitment from the town or other alternatives on the OL farmers market relocation.
6. Meeting adjourned at 9:10 AM.
